Theresienstadt
A note drawn off the string excites the air
Then tremors on the rising smoke-drift stream
So touching (sweet, inflected) ~ hanging there
Refining contours of Euterpeβs dream.
The notes drawn on the page contain no sound
But stand as mere suggestion of a tone
Left by a gifted hand ~ Now cruelly bound
Condemned to flames of nightmare and laid low.
The silence of strange music fills the ears
As voices (silenced) echo in the dawn
Though hatredβs din would drown with waves of fear
Their music (never silenced) will play on.
Of voices lost forever on the tide
A song is borne on which their spirits glide.

IΒ bit my tongue while trying to pronounce "Therensienstadt"...Intelligently written and usual...Got to learn so much mostly from your reply to Cherie...Enjoyed
Thanks Rose.
Oh dear...sorry about your tongue! For what it's worth, it's perfectly acceptable to call the place Terezin. Maybe I should've mentioned that in the title!?!
Glad you enjoyed.
J xx
This is my favorite part. I love the gentle wispy quality it brings.
Thank you.
