Thoughts at Christmas

Thoughts at Christmas

Think of the folks at Christmas
The ones who can’t afford
A thought for the old in a cold room
Wishing they lived abroad

 They’ll wrap themselves in jumpers
They’ve knitted through the year
Just to keep themselves from freezing
They’ll shed a frosted tear

 Think also of the homeless
The ones who’ve lost it all
Who may have once stood proud in society
Then took a financial fall

  Don’t ever forget the children
Who always give a smile
But, behind closed doors, a different world
Maybe cruel or vile

Maybe they’ll wake on Christmas Day
And not a present in sight
Think of them or pray for them
To end their sadness plight

This poem could go on forever
As good fortune don’t always last
One day,I hope for humanity’s sake
Sad sorrow is a thing of the past

I’ve not written anything in a while, then this came to mind.
Times are hard enough as it is but,the screw always seems to get tighter at this time of year.
Thank you so much for your compliments for my work.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas
