Till Shadows Dawn

Dismal has been this life
And it's now I approach the end
With the utmost fear, I will not find
What was never found upon this earth
And as I lay here to die
I know my spirit will be kept
For the displeasure of infelicitous time
I hold on to this living breath

I awake to my oblivion
In the same old smoke scented room
Where fire rage overwhelmed my lungs
And the sun seldomly filtered through
I wane in and out of this existence
Through time's memory, I exhume
A face unseen, I wish to see
Wishing the light would bring me back to you

I descend my tenebrous stairway
And begin to walk the barren road
Dejected until I hear
The rustling of trees, eventually evoke
The night air in all its intrigue
Calling me into the mist of the unknown
And upon arrival, I wonder if you'll be there
Or am I forever to be alone

Years perhaps have passed
And my will dwindles with suspicion
That I'll ever find a passage from this shadowland
Or hear the sound of sweet deliverance
Until the forest's fringe, I wander
And the other side, I see
Light glistening along the water
And you waiting across the stream
