Time

Time

Time travels a single track
On a journey that never ends.
It answers only to itself;
It has no enemies, no friends.
When we are young and immortal
We wish it by all too quick
And only start to grieve its passing
The older and wiser we get.
Time travels ever onward
Gathering prisoners in its wake,
Each a ghost from years that have passed
Reflecting on histories made.
We all live in its shadow,
Having no choice in its rules and
Though we try hard to defy it,
Time treads rough shod over us all.
