Tip Toe

Tip toe in our room
I know you’ll be up soon
It is almost that time
Already past nine
Again last night
We got into a fight
You came home so late
I did not even state
I smelled her perfume
That is how I knew
I saw the receipt
You are never that sweet
Chardonnay and a flower
Things are getting sour
I lay next to you
Deep sleep times two
Peaceful you are
Slowly breaking my heart
You open your eyes
To my surprise
You speak out my name
Without any shame
You tell me the truth
Under our roof
In our bed
So I said
“I’ll tip toe out”
“I am not going to scream or shout”
“I already knew”
“So this is what I’ll do”
He began to speak
But sweet talk will not make me weak
I packed his bags
Told myself I would not be sad
I’ll stand my own ground
Not a tip toe, but a sound
Sigh of relief
Now I believe
What is best in my life
Not being your wife
