Titanic
Haunting faces midst darkened bed,
Macabre of legend and sombre bred.
Lay in ruin under deep abyss,
Imprints of souls of families missed.
Once a pinnacle upon the waves,
Now a wreck of watery graves.
Wealthiest folk and those broke, redundant,
The ocean floor lays love abundant.
Champagne flutes and chandeliers,
Beauteous notes amidst their ears,
Dining well, cigars and brandy,
Cheers and laughs in circles of dandy.
Families below, imprisoned on decks,
Embraced each other with no regrets.
Southampton to New York on a whim and a promise,
Unbeknownst awaiting was sorrow and solace.
Starry night at twenty past two,
Over two thousand passengers, left only a few.
Ignorance still spewed over respect,
Their stander in life held in effect.
Over fifteen hundred perished in vain,
Both men and women and children slain.
Anguish and cries amidst the crowd,
Silence filtered above the loud.
