To Have Lived And Loved

Sentimental is my mood as I write
in these waning years of my life
To realize we're here for only a very short while
is such a very sad thought
We must live every moment with joy in our hearts
and be thankful for this gift we are presented with
Look around at the beauty you see around you
there is nothing to compare with this amazing vista
of glorious nature as far as the eye can see
So when our long journey on life's highway
is nearing an end, it's not a time of sadness,
it's a time to be thankful for this all too short adventure
to take with us in appreciation to have had
this opportunity to know this unequaled joy
To have smiled through the good times
cried through the tough times
but most of all... to have lived and loved!!!
