Poem -
"To Help and to Save"
"Life is better,
when God and I,
are close together.
I was scared,
so I tried to run.
I thought those drugs,
were how to have fun,
but, my God,
the damage that they've done.
I almost died,
and it was the Devil,
who would've won.
Thank You so much God,
for opening my eyes,
to a sober sunset,
and a clean sunrise.
Now it is time,
to return to You,
the gift that You gave.
I am now on a journey,
to help,
and to save,
all the lost people,
You graciously made,
that the Devil fancied,
that he could enslave."

When we think about time...
The little bit of time we're here and when I think of those who have already passed away and the times I came very close myself...
As long as the World has lived and the moment we were born here and no one knows how long they will be here...
To think of the places in all the World we are placed considering we all begin as a Baby...
The time we could have lived before without all the ammenities people take for granted and waste...
Most people believed in God then, much fewer believe today...
How did the World come to form?

I am a recovering addict. Today makes 30 days sober and clean!!! :) It took me having a stroke to wake up and realize what is good and right in this world. In Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous they teach us, "We keep what we have only by giving it away". This is my way of giving back to God since He so graciously spared me. I want to inspire people to be rid of drugs and alcohol because that, and keeping God in our sights, is how we truly can be free of the tethers of this world.

Great poem Robert, I have read countless books on addiction and the 10 step program. The step I always have trouble with is believing in a higher power as I'm non religious.

It is the God of Your Understanding. As my old sponsor once said to me, "There is only so much a finite being can understand of an infinite being, as He is immortal and we are not. We die and He lives forever so our understanding is hindered by our time on this Earth. I believe that The Gog of My Understanding talks to me in my mind and that I can tell I am on the right track by the chills I get and feelings in my heart. They are what guide me down this path and have helped me more than I can ever express with my poetry. I almost died from a stroke about two and a half months ago but God spared me so this is my way of giving back to Him and to other addicts like myself. =) I hope these words help you Syd!
