To my boss
I lay in bed at dawn, after a long day of pleasing another
My enthusiasm, my thirst for knowledge, has truly been given a smother
My legs.. they ache, my heart.. it hurts, and I will tell you why
I spend every moment of brightness covering your lie
And your untruth, I tell you, is taking all the glory
Someone praises and you take it, but it's a different story
You forget the few that are "under you" as you sit in your safe cave
Ordering coffee, demanding views, you request unto your slave
I work for you to feed my family, to provide for my wife
And I keep quiet, just to make me have an easy life
When in my head I wonder how, you sit there, no remorse
Face like thunder, ora of misery and words that sound so coarse
So to my boss, I'm sorry you're sad
But next time you insult me, or reflect on the bad
I dedicate my life to you, so you can have your own
And when I cross the threshold, you make me feel alone
So next time you make a comment, or criticise my work
Make sure you wander to the mirror and give yourself a look
Because we're the same, a human mammal, a work of natures fashion
You might receive more paper than me, but I'll always have my compassion.

More paper, I like that, unfortunately we are a slave to the paper.
We definitely are. Such a shame when there is so much beautiful in the world.
Interesting write. Humanizing the one who criticizes...Brilliant write
Thank you so much!
Loved it
Thank you Carey, I appreciate you taking the time to read!
I like this...it seems too often the ones doing the legwork for the fat checks go underappreciated!*!*! Great write!
