Tomorrow's Yesterday

How soon today is  yesterday
and tomorrow is today.
It seems  that nothing’s  fixed in life
and soon all fades away.

What ails us now and causes pain
will soon be transient too,
and fall back way into the past
as everything must do

We cannot stop the march of time
Nor halt the ride we’re on.
There’s barely time to look around
before what’s ‘now’ is gone

In dreams we live a life unchained,
where time can’t hold us bound.
Reality irrelevant.
truth often can confound

Yet when we sleep the images
we see behind  closed eyes,
seem sensible and very real,
we try to memorise

Retelling what we might have dreamt
sounds  ludicrous and trite,
but in our minds we understand
and welcome back each night

To leave a present soon to go
and face an unknown day,
seems empty, lost and with no point
when you just want to stay

But you can’t stop the treadmill now
life always forges on,
hold tight to  dreams reality
too  soon they will be gone.
