Too late

Too Late
He said your going to die tonight
grabbing her neck, squeezing with all his might
He finally kept one of his promises today
smiling sadly she felt her life slipping away
Why didn't she leave, start a new life
because she loved him, and being his wife
He'd actually kill her she never believed
i guess that's she refused to leave
Choosing to remember the good times forget the bad
forget her children were scared and sad
Accepting it's really happening shes going to die
where are her babies, she thought she heard them cry
It's too late wondering what could have been
What is going to happen to her children
He strangled her while looking into her eyes
seeing her struggles stop as she finally dies
Instead of finding her children a safe home
she died leaving them with him all alone
What will happen will they lose their lives
Will he beat them now since he can't his wife

Well, my guess is that the children will be without any parents once the authorities catch up with the creep. He'll go to prison, their mother will be buried six feet under and they'll be left to an orphanage or a caring relative, if they're lucky. At least he won't have the opportunity to hurt them as he did their mother.
Call this an educated guess but I'm betting this poem is based on your personal experiences, to a certain degree.

Yes,I'm a survivor of abuse, I've come to close to my ex killing me, finally I left.a close friend didn't leave in time, so this poem was written for her and my thoughts about what could have happened had I not left.
Thank goodness you made it out of your situation alive.
Otherwise you & I wouldn't be having this conversation.
Take care, Angela.
