The Trail I Traveled

Voices of life, buried in the red clay earth
Swallowed up in the fossils of beaten rock and stone
The trail, traveled by many, lost in the rain
The wind carried us through, without horse, without shoes
Now I dream, I live, the promise land, I will lay my head
When I awaken, I shall see our native nation come together
The circle of life, the dance freedom, the spirit of love
The trail of tears, the trail once traveled

Nancy this is soulful and so well spoken, love the perspective you put on such an incredible cultural and history; your tone reflects a pride, appreciation and a tone of reconciliation with the past; great attitude is conveyed... beautiful qualities felt and seen here; such an edifying poem; enjoyed
