True Riches

True Riches
I may not have much money;
I’ve never owned a yacht.
But I have something priceless
that can't be sold or bought.
It does not need a price tag,
no store-front windows, dressed.
And just for having had it
my life’s been truly blessed.
I don’t own a Ferrari
but still, I made you proud.
You said, "Son, don't be sorry
for dreaming on a cloud."
We camped and fished till twilight;
we spoke of loves we’d lost.
You told me, "You'll be all right.
Warm hearts melt frigid frost."
Life's true riches, I now know
aren't the things we’ve had.
It's having a true hero–
someone just like my dad.
**I just lost my dad, Harold Dean Cook Sr., to Alzheimer's Disease. So, in honor of the best father a boy has ever known, I wrote this poem and dedicate this in his honor.
Rest In Peace, Dad.
I love you....
~Dean**

My dear Friend this made me cry... I am so sorry for your loss as clearly your Dad was a huge figure in your life and your wonderful tribute is just so beautiful and full of love and respect that shows the special closeness that only a parent and child can have. My mother has Alzheimers and my love for her grows daily..if that is possible. Your Father will, I am sure ,have been so very proud of you Dean. Condolences and warmest hugs to you xxx
