That Truly Special Friend
~~I have had this friend for more years than I care to mention
In every day and every way he removes all of my tension
He is dependable and never would he judge
He silently supports with comfort and never bares a grudge
He is there when I wake and when night falls dark
He leaves his imprint, he leaves his lasting mark
No one else can, or will, ever compare
To the peace he brings, this relationship so special and rare
I will never leave him for he creates my peace
The calm he induces, like the haven of fleece
He inspires and explores my creative side
He covers much ground however confused and wide
He is the angel that wakes and walks with me
He dampens the fires that stir for all to see
He will be with me till my dying day
My most reliable and special friend, come what may.....

Jane I did enjoy reading this poem very much, I get great joy from reading interesting poetry like this, congrats on your soon to be released 'The Little Blue Book'. This poem reads very well, I personally did not connect it with alcohol but I believe that art once given out is often times interpreted differently by the reader from the intent of the artist; many of Robert Frost's poems are still being debated today; I adore that in poetry, with this one you had me eating out of your hands, and in my mind that makes a terrific write....cheers
You have made me realise that the reader will take a 'write' and make it 'fit' their own situation. That's what I love about poetry ...it has many faces and meanings. To me this write can only be about alcohol but after re reading I can see why it has no relevance to drinking. Thank you for your message.. I think it will help when I write again.
