Trust is like crust

Remember it well that first day we met 
Playing outside it was muddy and wet
Mum shouted us in to meet you that day 
She looked at you in a loving way 

I was 11 when you became part of ours
We all respected you, you had our Mums heart 
Years fly buy with a happy home 
A father figure around, Mum not alone

We grew up but stayed close, a family of fun
15 years goes by,  the family queen was Mum
She would give you the shirt off of her back
She would stand in front of you if you was under attack

Then the worst happened and it was her under threat
We panicked and prayed,  a day I’ll never forget
Our queen, was battling, yes it was Cancer 
We did everything we could apart from getting the right answer 

So this is when Love should really show and portray
Making sure your wife knows youre there as she holds on a little harder each day
Instead I was wrong, how wrong was I 
If I didn’t see it myself I would swear it was a lie
You really do marry a stranger,  more than a decade built on what 
For you to carry on with another woman and My Mum you forgot 
The lies you told you will have to live with each day 
I often think do you feel guilt or are you sorry in anyway
I imagine it the other way round if it was you in that bed
Mum would never have left your side, stroking your hand and head

But you decided it not fit for you so you ran out and got another 
Partying, holidays, mums money spent on “her”,  she was your wife, our mother
You just couldn’t wait until she had passed you knew that day wouldn’t be long
Instead you did all for you, no care if you got it wrong
she had enough to deal with without being abandoned by you
her husband left her side, in her hour of need it’s true 

I forgive so I’m not bitter but i will never let it go
People can be deceiving even loved ones can stoop low 
so hold your family a little closer and show loyalty and love
Keep them tucked safely in you hearts and smile at the stars above
