Turn Of The Key

Turn Of The Key

I drove grandmother’s car as a child

Barely fifteen years old and knowing littleΒ

Young plus reckless equals wild

Multiplied by rebellion and wrong

Wrong beliefs that so defiled

My young mind, my young heart, my soul

Life was loud rock n’ roll

And love was out of reach

I drove fast in life and crashed

On every road that looked so easy

Every car I owned was trashedΒ

Yet, I’d walk to run the course

Dreams of victory would be dashed

My racing mind, my racing heart, my soul

The wild life would take its toll

But, love was around the cornerΒ

I stopped with a turn of the key

Exit the mad car that was me

I looked up and searched the sky

To choose a star to go by

I followed the course that led to truth

Smoother than my roads of youth

Love was within reach, I could clearly see

I’ve found you...with just a turn of the key
