Poem -

Twenty seven years, a Hero

Twenty seven years old,
A welder by trade,
A Marine by choiceĀ

To see him and not to bother,
I leave him alone,
To talk another time.

There is no other time
For the taken
For the young, gone now.

I should have madeĀ
A different choice,
Stopped and talked.

A true hero
Saved then,
But now, suddenly.

Hoping that this is not real,
Not knowing how to deal,
It must be a nightmare I feel.

Come to consciousness,
Knowing now,
The reality sets in.

Never to see,
Never to be,
Just never, somehow.

Author Notes: I was close with Chuck at work, he was a Marine that did his job well and kept up this tradition after the Marines. He was Recon and served many dangerous missions that he always survived.
A true hero.

Taken suddenly at 27 years old

We all miss you Chuck
