Two Sides
To my story, there is my blood,
split lengthwise in two,
on one side the Thames, raging steel-gray,
on another the Tigris, red as sunset
In Turkish summer,
In one I feel the earth and water,
telling me to be calm and cool,
In another, Fire and Wind bearing me to dare,
fire and wind across deserts in bloom,
Ice and stone to the moorlands,
The white sand in my blood pulsing,
daring me to search beyond,
to return to the deserts of my ancestors,
another to settle my life where I may,
To set stones in rememberance,
to make the world my home,
and my home the world...
To raise the flag until the sun will never set,
and the other bades me to run in the endless sky,
with only the sun as my companion.
Where one calls me to the blue water,
another draws me to a bloodred sea,
while one Draws me into the deeps,
another seeks me to find the sands.
One in two parts, warring,
my mother and fathers blooded legacy,
To watch the world from the Dunes of Karakum,
Or stand on far Éire moors,
until the sun rises on my day...

Wow!
I'd say that was an amazingly powerful poem full of strong images.
Marvellous!
Remember, though you may have blood from both, you are your own remarkable person!
I'd welcome you to Eire any day though :)
Peace and smilesÂ
Thanks Mitsali, I figure you of all people would understand, having a similar ancestry, and then living in the place of the other.. Honestly, I was thinking of you when I started writing this. More specifically what I thought we might have in common. My Father was A High-Class Bangladeshi businessman, and my mother was an Accounting Major from the States... I figured I really didn't know that much about you, so the only thing I could think of was Ancestry...
My Dear Dmitri
Your beautiful poem reminds me of an old song called "Torn Between Two Lovers".
I can feel the blood of both sets of your ancestors, beckoning you.
Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
