Two Turtle Doves

There was an oak forest in a land far away
Where everything was perfect in every single way
The grasses were always green, and the sun would always shine
All the trees stood tall, including the oak and the pine
Birds would sing when the world woke at dawn
And in each generation, this consistency would carry on
In this oak forest lived two turtle doves
They were inseparable and so deeply in love
Not even the strongest winds could make them part
Because their love was so strong in each of their hearts
One day, one of the doves betrayed the other one
And the love that was once so strong was now done
The betrayed dove felt as if she could no longer live
And thought of the other dove that she’d never forgive
Suddenly a storm came, tearing away the oak trees
There were so sounds left, not even from busy bees
Silence filled the forest, and not a single sound was heard
Beautiful songs stopped coming from each singing bird
Lost without love, the turtle doves were beyond hope
And after while, they were unsure if they could cope
Knowing that the love that the birds once had was gone
The world would never again wake to singing doves at dawn
One dove was so miserable; it couldn’t live another day
Its sorrow came over him and he sadly passed away
The other dove felt something was wrong as the dove met his death
A painful singe burned inside her with his dying breath
The dove grew sadder, and finally became aware
That the other dove was gone, and she’d never share
Love that was more than just any love
A love that was brighter than the sun that shined above
Sorrow overcame her too, like a mist in the air
And then she passed, with no emotions left to spare
The forest was never then same as it was before
Where the trees stood, towering over the forest floor
And where the birds would sing melodies side by side
But it all vanished from existence when love once died
No one would ever forget how it was all held together by love
That once existed between the two unforgettable turtle doves

Great narrative Amber. The sense of loss, not only for the birds, but the beauty they had created (now gone), really crept up on me.
Very touching story. Sad yet true at the same time.Good work!
