Two Worlds Collide…

Two Worlds Collide…

(dedicated to my husband Omar, on our wedding anniversary)

Our destiny was set in stone long before our two worlds collided, and I had lived enough nightmares to know, it was easier to dance with my ghosts than to twist fate –

I saw you, but dared not touch, I thought of you but closed my eyes to not speak it, and I breathed you in, but felt too deeply to resist the alignment of our constellation –

Your night sky unfolded its violet satin, stars fell as rain, softly soaking my presence; I stuck out my tongue to taste your drops, becoming drunk on your alcoholic beauty –

The sun rose each morning in your smile, and each night the stars sparkled in your eyes; I etched your vision on the moon’s surface, and hung it outside my window…

Knowing I could watch you whenever I wanted, and knowing too, that wherever you were in the world, we could both look up and see the same majestic moon –

You were there, I here, and I needed you, as the wolf needed to hunt, her body aching to quench her thirst for blood; as the sun died each day, to let the earth sleep –

Tears filled the oceans, its waters of the sea touched all shores, searching for your soul to reunite with mine; after all, it was written in the inescapableness of chance –
