Understanding

Understanding

My daughter sat and looked confused,
As i knelt down to tie her shoes,
"Daddy" she said as she looked at me,
"You know i love your poetry",
"But why on earth, and its not bad",
"Do some of your poems sound quite sad?",
"They are not sad, that's an incorrect notion",
"They are all about human emotion",
"When i write about you, i hope you see",
"That this is what it means to me",
She looked at me with one of those faces,
As i tried to explain with the use of her laces,
She stared down hard, after a little while,
She understood with a kiss and a smile.
