My Valentine Gift

I first set my eyes on you on a Valentine’s Day several years back
Ours wasn’t really love at first sight, now that I sit to think back

But the first time I set my eyes on you I knew you were unique 
There was something special about you not just your physique 

We instantly became real friends and in each other we confided
I trusted you and believed so much in you with much confidence

You had your girlfriend and I my boyfriend which we both loved
It was she who first broke your heart ‘cos   another man she loved

I gave you my shoulder to cry on and was there for you to fret
Mine too left and surprisingly I was at peace with no regret

On a day after Valentine few years later we had our first kiss
It was never planned but it just happened and we felt no peace

We apologized to each other and promised never to let it happen again
Did it happen again? Yes it did and several times over and over again

We became so attracted to each other and one couldn’t do without the other
It became a bond so strong and love so real we have for each other

With another Valentine’s Day here, one thing I know for real
That you’re my Valentine gift given to me from God and so ideal

I love and cherish everything we’ve shared…in you’ve found a soul mate
A lover and a friend…it feels so real that nothing can our love equate
