Emergency Department (the non urgent patient)

Emergency Department (the non urgent patient)

Always Back forth, two and fro,

Averted, to the busy eyes.

It’s all just…so….so….. very….. slow!!

Daily dramatics, HUGE in size,

Gazing out on the painted wall

Nervous giggles and the odd scream

Waiting for each clinical call

Behind the curtain……………….still unseen!!!!!!

Yes so many people hate hospitals!! I was waiting for my niece to be seen.....( I work in a busy emergency dept!) so it was interesting seeing it from the angle of the one waiting to be seen.. Thank you for your comments Cherie, always appreciated

Gazing out on the painted wall

I love this line. I've done an inordinate amount of waiting in hospitals over the years...and you get to the point where ALL you can do is stare at some blank wall or other.

The whole experience is perfectly captured in this poem...the growing sense of boredom, tedium and slightly unnerving panic.

Brilliant!!
