"Walk Away Slowly"

"When your fake friends,
have scurried away,
who do you think,
has always stayed,
when the drugs were gone,
and you thought you,
were all alone?

Jesus my friend,
was by your side,
all those times,
you almost died,
lifting you out of the deep dark waters,
of that godless troubled sea,
pleading,
'I just want you to be with me!'
and for a time,
you committed countless crimes,
and turned your back,
on God's Son,
and your shine,
but now in recovery,
you realize what your,
recovery friends,
meant when they said,
'Surrender to win,'
and you nervously started,
your life over again.

Timidly making each step,
with God's Voice the conviction,
you walk away slowly,
from that horrid affliction,
and after a while,
you see you are finally again living,
and instead of taking,
you are now giving,
away the wisdom,
God gave to you,
to help others obtain the new blessed life,
they and you never knew!"
