Walk With Me

Our time is short on earth, it is never enough, though my feet ache, my knees give out, my limbs just hang
I try to pull back, I try to sit up, but I fall back, just a shove, just one more try, not by myself, I need a hand
Now I feel much better, you have arrived, your smile, your tender words, your gentle hands, they touch me
You bring me my legs, you know the kind, with four metal legs, I stand, but will I make it, to my next destination
If you walk with me, I can, you make me secure, you bring me coffee, my pills, my food, you even help me dress, with no hesitation
Just pure dedication, it has been a long time, you and me, sixty-five years, I will never give up, as long as I have you
Each foot step I take, I take it for you, for the love, and the care, for always being there, I truly thank you, without you
The walk with me, has no meaning, no rhyme, no time, no trace, no matter, no place, just another day, just please say
You will walk with me, and I will look into your darkest hours, while you are sleeping, I may stop breathing, I shall rest, a golden staircase
I will be taking, together some day, I will be waiting, for your hand, take mine, we both will be free, no suffering, no more pain
