War Between Lost Lovers

A war between two lost lovers
Not an uncommon tale.
A war fought with hurt, a war fought with anger.
Low blows are taken, with the intention of pain
And long forgotten memories dragged from the past.
There’s no shame in how you expose the other
As long as you are not the bad guy.

A war between two tortured lovers
With two children caught between.
Forced to pick and choose sides.
See the bad guy in both,
As well as the good.
Influenced by each
And in endless turmoil.

A battle between two star crossed lovers
A mother who tries her damnedest,
trying to make her children happy;
but losing herself.
A father who gave up hope long ago,
But even if he doesn’t care about himself
He will always love those kids.

A family broken by two lovers
Everyone going their separate ways.
Each broken and hurt,
It was time to move on; but no one did.
Low blows are taken,
The kids are in the middle,
And the family is more broken than ever.
