A Lone Wolf

A lone wolf
From the day of its birth
Desired the moon
Above all else.
The silver beams
That shone so bright
Provided the light
So he could see.
He wandered the lands
In search of the moon
With beauty so stunning
He couldn’t help but stare.
The wolf searched alone
For a moon surrounded by stars
That would keep her company
In the vastness of the sky.
They whispered secrets
That the wolf longed to hear
So when the moon was brightest
He sang to her.
Loud and sad were the cries of the wolf,
And in the glimmer of
Those silver beams
That wolf knew it could never be.
But still he chased this impossible dream
Longing to whisper among the stars
Instead of howling at the moon.
