Watching Ravens

Watching Ravens

Watching ravens circle
their eyes hollow
their feathers seared
by yesterdays sunset.
I watch them plummet
I watch them tumble
as the final rays of sun
seethe to their end.
Black & white Polaroids
litter my mind
portal memories of
little drops of ocean
                       Forever forgotten
                                    Forever drown.
Burlesque dreams
absurdly linger
acrid cigarette smoke
that fills my veins
                      Cut me
                             I smoulder.
But, it is my heart that is heavy
for it is so full of you
its lead-footedness
leaves prints in the snow; that
                                       never melt
                                          never thaw.
I inhale you deep
a feast of bitter sweetness
that I can still taste; long
after my last breath has
                                    exhaled, and
                                                   dispersed.
