Poem -

We all hurt

Because you have had more bad experiences than I, this means that my own traumatizing ones are not valid?
I do not believe that is how this works.
Every person has a different pain tolerance.
Every person reacts differently.
You had your experiences older, I had mine young.
Yours powered you, mine built a cracked house.
My pain has been there all of my life, I do not know how to live without it.
You know what it was like to be truly happy and able to trust.
What you went through was horrifying and no person should have to go through it, but that does not give you the right to say mine was not painful enough to leave emotional scars.

Very true, Alexia.
Unless we've walked a mile in the torn and tattered shoes of the people in question none of us has the right to demean or diminish someone else's pain.
Well stated...poetically speaking, of course.
