We Won’t Forget You

We Won’t Forget You

This ode is for all our heroes, who gave their lives for the U.S.A.;

To keep our country safe with freedom, the ultimate price they paid!

Weeping widows visit flowered gravesites, crying children by their sides;

Sobbing parents pray for sons and daughters, whose longevity war denied!

These scenes have played over two hundred years, soldiers died, so America could live;

Here, in Europe, Asia, the Mideast, they gave all that they could give!

Some would pay in other ways, a limb or two they lost;

But on crutches or with prosthetic parts, they stand tall at any cost!

Then of course there’s PTSD, the unseen battle scar;

Attacks their minds when they come home, with haunting memories from afar!

Nightmares, cold sweat, hallucinate, they’re back from where they came;

And even now that it’s so different, to them, it’s just the same!

So on this sacred Day of Memorial, we send you all our love;

Our prayers you’ll hear that honor you, in the sky so far above!

We promise you we’ll ne’er forget, what you gave to the United States;

Some day we’ll come to shake your hands, when we meet at Heaven’s Gates!

Committed heart-driven write delivered with reverence and admiration for all who put everything on the line to defend liberty.

There is nothing but respect from me for those who serve in the armed forces.

Passionate writing to move.

Best wishes to you my friend.

Dear Richard,

The passion of my poem, has been superseded by the beautiful passion of your comment.  It is very clear for all to see, that you hold a very special place in your heart and soul for these great wounded warriors.  I salute you my dear patriotic friend.

Peace and Love,

Larry xxx
