Web of Deceit

Truth is only truth when spoken or heard,
An accusation is just that unless admitted by word.
A web of deceit woven from unfaithful secrets and lies,
Entangled by broken promises and endless empty alibis.
A marriage falsely built on love, respect and trust.
A foundation threatened with destruction all in the name of lust.
His deceit did not fall upon blind eyes,
Weeping and weary she pleaded and begged for the truth to end all the lies.
He weaved a web, his web of deceit;
To unweave and untangle proved to be no easy fete.
She knew in her heart when she was being deceived,
But her hopeful love forced her into believing.
A woman in love is drunk with emotion,
Led astray by clouded judgment fueled by love and devotion.
When his web of deceit was finally laid before his wife,
She welcomed the freedom of truth to free her captivation of sorrow and strife.
Her heart proved the truth long before spoken or heard,
Prepared for the bittersweet release in the sting of each spoken word. β
Misguided is the preparation in matters of the heart,
When the battle against a loversβ betrayal we are all defenseless from being ripped apart.
