The Beast Within

Through the eyes of a child,
What a beautiful sight.
Pureness and innocence filled
With love and light.
The innocence of that little girl was sniffed out by the beast like prey,
Trapped by her own trusting innocence, she did not run away.
Disguised as a game, she wanted to play,
Taught things no three year old should know, do or say.
The light that once enveloped those wondrous eyes like twinkling stars,
Was dimmed by the beast marking her with eternal scars.
Through the eyes of this child, the excitement and wonder were replaced with tears,
Stolen and raped of the innocence she only owned three short years.
Her fate was sealed and sheβll ever be the same,
She is tormented with anger, regret and blame.
The seed was planted by the beast that grew and spread like disease,
Watered and fed by her own self-hatred, it threatens to never seize.
The beast is gone but still remains,
Eternally trapped by her own set of chains.
