Welcome To Hell

Welcome To Hell

20 years of war in the trenches,

Death before dishonor I swore,

The black tide all encompassing,

To the last drop of blood I fight it,

As it laps upon the shore of my island,

My sanctuary of peace and sanity,

Trapped in a cage of razor wire,

Man on shadow blazing at this beast,

The black ghoul is cold and emotionless,

Nimbly avoiding attempts at relief,

Its blows are stinging,

This contest of attrition my life,

Its will to fight the same as my own,

But its endurance knows no limit,

I am but a man, I cannot persist forever,

And eventually my strength will be gone,

Effective resistance crumbles,

The blackness will land a deathblow,

And I will fall sliced by razors,

Ten thousand cuts from which I bleed,

Despair, my life force slowly ebbs away,

Beheaded with a bullet to the brain,

My head implodes upon itself,

And into the blackness I am enveloped,

I die alone, lost and hopeless,

And the shadow smiles knowingly,

Gloating over my lifeless corpse,

He whispers: “David, it was inevitable”.

David Vitali. Around 2006.

Lost

Brilliant. The dark tones in this is very visceral.
