We'll Soon Be Moanin' About The Heat

We'll Soon Be Moanin' About The Heat

Oh to be in England now that Spring is near,
Mathew Arnold spoke about a bird haunted lawn dear,
more like bird spattered but let him keep the mystery,
why we pretend everything's wonderful not really clear.

I lived in The Far East - that's Malaysia not Norwich,
asked why I came back - must because life's a beach;
a colleague lambasted UK, don't live there they say,
we procrastinate and think nirvana's out of reach.

Africa was out of this world but actually right in it,
the goalposts moved, voodoo but no devils on my shoulders sit;
older now, colder now, be warm enough when I'm cremated,
the cold ground will be gone and candles for me will be lit.

Where were going they'll be no clothes and no weather,
we can dream that we'll be in a dry heaven forever,
