Poem -

What am I made of.

What am I made of.

What am I made of?
Rust, dust and broken things
Barbs of ice that pierce hearts
Whilst ripping off my wings
What am I made of?
Memories of hate unnecessary
From childhood to women grown
Memories I'll never bury

What am I made of?
More than I know
Each mistake I make
Is a chance to grow
But I don't
History repeats itself
And here I stand
Once again hating myself

What am I made of?
I am a broken thing
Who tried to hard to fly
And ripped off her wings
So I'll never fly again
I am likely to fall
But I'm not going to be a victim
And I know I can't have it all

What am I made of?
Sterner stuff, I know
I'm not a little girl anymore
So why can't I grow
I need to pick myself up
Dust off the past
Forget it as a misadventure
And build a future to last

What am I made of?
Iron and steel and harder things
Fuck being disheartened
I'll build my own damn wings
I'll get my own future set up
With a goal and a tiny ray of hope
Forget the past
Focus on trying to cope

What am I made of?
I dont know, but we shall see
I'm not too downtrodden
I'll give the best of me
In everything I do
And guard everything I say
Forget everything gone by
Tomorrow is a new day.
