What's In A Name

What's In A Name

I wondered what it would be like, called another name,
like Valdarama, Finkelstein, perhaps I could up my game;
there are footballers called Jesus, must have a following,
I used 'John Andrew,' the disciples wouldn't mind me borrowing.

When you return, you will have another new name,
couldn't expect to be ever the same person again;
now, supposing some of your old knowlege 'carried,'
to do some of the former things that once you did?

You had the chance to make some small corrections,
to misdemeanours, mistakes, errors and insurrections;
what would you change, they say you can't change history,
but I'd be interested to see the list you're giving to me.

There's no escape, it's no good picking a nom-de-plume,
finally held to account for all to see, in a heavenly room.
