Poem -

When are we old

When are we old

When are you old
Do we really know
When time passes,
 it seldom seems slow
Except when we were children
So Eager to grow
As a child we think age seems so  very far away
When our days are filled
 With excitement and play
But as the time passes
The momentum increases
So relentless,
It never ceases
Until one day when you look back on your life
Weigh up your achievements
Your troubles and strife
Then we find,
It becomes very clear
We will soon be approaching
Our final years
Make every day count
In all that we do
Leave a lasting impression
With everyone you meet
Don't waste your time
With pretence and deceit
Every moment is precious
So don't let it go,
Without making it a memory,
To cherish and grow

This poem was inspired by a tv doc about a 87 year old man
Who still does the Alcatraz triathlon every year
The following quote was from him

When are you old
When you stop dreaming of what you can do
That's when your old
