When I Saw Her Smile

“When I saw Her Smile”

Across a crowded room I saw her smile,

It hit me hard, and made the day worthwhile.

Our eyes connected, and I knew rightaway.

She was who I had been searching,

from the beginning of day.

Like me she just stood, with just a smile on her face,

waiting for me, for whom her arms would embrace.

She too had been waiting for that smile to appear,

and it was mine that she saw, that she saw was so near.

It was only in this moment I knew she was mine,

The girl I was seeking, that would make my life shine.

Who would remove the emptiness, and loneliness I felt.

And give meaning to a life that had lived, but not dwelt.

Across that crowded room when I saw her smile,

for me the earth moved, and it seemed like a mile.

As I approached her I counted the steps I had taken,

those steps I had hoped, would make my life go unbroken.

I had finally discovered the girl in my dreams,

in a crowded room where she stood without means.

As she was standing before me, with just a smile on her face.

Was this girl I had sought.

For whom my heart would replace.
