Poem -

When Sleep Eludes Me

In the middle of the night
When sleep eludes me
I write
It’s a thing I do
To get me through
Till dawn breaks
If at 4:00 A.M. I’m wide awake
What keeps me up is mostly you
My lover
But when I’m creating & composing
It’s for me & no other
Like a puzzle, I put words together
Hoping in the end my poem will be clever
And if I’m satisfied with what in rhyme I’ve said
I return to my bed
When through my window
Slowly the light of day does show
Hands to cheeks I exclaim
Oh no!
Where did the night go
I’m so tired
What am I to do
This is your doing,lover
It’s all because of you!
