Poem -

When spring comes around

When spring comes around

The winter garden readies itself for the sun

Roots stir as from a long dreamless sleep

The ground loosens for the penetration

Heat rising softly from the frozen deep

.

Tulips are anxious to show colors of red and gold

Fixing to dance the tango with the amorous wind

  their fragrant peddles, itching to unfurl;

and greedily the bees will feed on their pollen

.

green nipples will harden to leafy trees

  and nature will soon show its truest self now;

the one that only the earliest of spring reveals

the one that stays and defines the year some how

.

The more things change the more they stay the same

The cycle of life brings me back to this place again and again

ps.  hope you like the song, it always makes me weep when it ends

I love the way you described nature in an erotic way...I noticed you love The Beatles...I didn't like the song...I LOVED the song...Beautifully written...Enjoyed

lol, thanks Rose for saying that, 'perhaps' I do have a 'dirty mind' (a wee pun; I hate puns!) I do indeed love the Beatles, in a hundred years folks will be talking about their music, that kinda sorta makes them immortal, no?  hey, nature is erotic by the way...cheers poet

My Brother Poet Christopher,

As Winter ends, Spring approaches

Reincarnation begins

Flowers flutter

Trees traverse

Bees buzz

Nature sings in harmony

As it has done for countless milleniums

The "Cycle of Life" brings music to our ears

And tears to our eyes

Thank you "Sir Elton"

Peace and Love,

Larry xxx

This poem is this so well written

For me the poem is enough

 It brings me such joy

To know of your writing ability

If I could have a book

 With this poem inside

I would be happy to read it on my dying day

 It's so damn good

 Yes I like the Beatles

And I like your poem too!

Now I'm thinking about green nipples

 That's just me Chris

Hey there, you glorious poet, you! The ink you've created has surely made me think of all my favorite things about spring in such beautiful detail. Even though I've got a cold like illness going on because of the weather change, I deeply enjoyed this writing  and got excited thinking about how wonderful spring is going to be. Definitely looking forward to reading more!

Hi mate,
Tremendous poem, you described the birth of spring in such a great (at the moment borderline erotic) way, that I appreciate very much. I'm pinning this...
Keep up the great work!

P.S. Great song choice too ;)

I've never thought of nature in that way !

'Green nipples', 'Harden' and 'Penetrate' , as though Mother Nature was once more preparing herself for renewal : but you've made it sexual , given nature human characteristics, rather than clinical and asexual. Very clever and original, keep writing !

thank you Giselle, for saying that, to be honest I try very hard not to repeat myself, yet I naturally gravitate to 'love' and its' benefits, with this one I was having fun mostly, within the sonnet structure....I write poetry whenever they come to me, but I'm very selective in what I post; if one doesn't impress me, I'll keep it private, I won't be posting for a while, I'm having too much fun 'reading' at the moment

Yes reading other people's poetry is as much fun as writing it ! I'm working on a poem at the moment but there are periods where I have to leave it too ! Poetry seems to come out of the blue at the oddest of times, other days, nothing !

'Green nipples,' I love that, buds do look like nipples, great simile :)
