Where Have All The Artists Gone?

Where Have All The Artists Gone?

What's happened since the Renaissance? Not a lot,
Do we have anyone to match Leonardo, Michelangelo?
No, we do not - why is that, are we really less clever?
No, we are not, I can write the fantasy that they can not.

There was a buzz in Leonardo's studio, Giovanni - me,
gifted, going to the future, better than they were - me,
using oils, future acrylic, didn't matter, still bloody stick,
I'll give you photographic in shades of thin and thick.

I can give you cubism if you wish, a bit of Dali to make it swish,
we don't need to wait ages anymore, a fortune from my palette dish,
never mind the reputation, they thought it was Renoir, that prick,
he was good at breasts but not so good with a dick.

When I got back to the future, they asked me where I'd 'bin,'
never mind chaps, if I fail - we've still got Tracey Emin, (Brit.)
