Whirlwind
She Dances In White
I have heard talk of this...
Much discussed in hushed tones
I have heard of this Lakota Sioux girl dancing in a snow white leather shawl
And that she won them all
Every step, every turn was poetry in motion
Had the audience in awe
Marvelling at her every move
A single eagle feather graced her shining black waist length hair
The men gasped at her beauty
And the women wished they were her,
stealing hearts unaware
That she was everywhere
She turned, spinning in near flight
And her hair feather never lost its place
As the well-sung song came to its finale...
She raised her shawl like eagles' wings
And spun once more and so fast
The emcee cried and cheered
The drum ended with one final and thunderous beat
And she stopped in perfect form, like a dove unmoved in a fiery storm
The crowd cheered and even the hundred other dancers shared their love
For this beautiful Native angel...who looked up and smiled at all the adoring people
And walked away...never once in vain

Love it...Thx
I'm so happy I read this poem.
Out of the three poems I have read by you, this is my favorite. The descriptions used were brilliant. The tone of the poem is energetic, happy and free flowing. I could hear the beat of the drums. I could see a woman dancing with elegance. I could feel the raw emotion within the space.
Favorite lines:
She raised her shawl like eagles' wings
And spun once more and so fast
The emcee cried and cheered
The drum ended with one final and thunderous beat
Well done.
Worthy of five stars.
