Whispers

Conversations I have with myself in the deep of night,
When no one can hear,
As if my mind was full of dirty little secrets,
We are all but human,
Cross your heart to not tell if I whisper to you.

That feeling of constant darkness and hopelessness,
The cynical whispers still linger to bring me down,
Slowly killing me from inside my own head,
A ticking time bomb about to blow,
Cross your heart to not tell if I whisper to you.

Picking up the pieces each day,
Attempting to place them where they need to go,
So, I don’t go up in flames,
Struggling to catch a breathe or a break,
Cross your heart to not tell if I whisper to you.

These arguments I have with myself,
Putting myself down,
I know I am my worst enemy,
But I know me, if you truly did you’d understand,
Cross your heart to not tell if I whisper to you.
