Whitney

Whitney

I remember the year back in eighty five,

a music career now started to thrive.

With a powerful voice and magnificent flow,

your presence captivated with radiant glow.

Loved by many you lit up like a flame,

"Whitney Houston became an iconic name."

In you swept like a strengthening storm,

no dry eye recorded each time you'd perform.

I'd memorize lines each word from the start,

as they welled deep within and melted my heart.

At a time in my life with sadness and pain,

I'd rely on your lyrics in keeping me sane.

The tears fell so fast when you went away,

and all of the things that so many would say,

But I still hold your memory with music I play,

and know that they'll never be taken away.
