Why?

Why couldn't you do it?
Why didn't you care?
Although I could see you,
you were  never really there.
I tried to make you,
I tried so hard.
What you gave was fake,
just a facade.
I wanted us to be happy,
just you and I
but you didn't make me smile,
you just made me cry.
Why did I try for oh so many years? 
Perhaps because I couldn't see
through a million tears.
