WILLIAMSJI MAVELI POEM
THE SPIRIT'S FLIGHT

Though treasures pile and fortunes swell,
A gilded cage cannot compel
The spirit's flight, the heart's desire,
Beyond the bars, its flames aspire.
For wealth may buy a painted scene,
But cannot touch the meadows green,
Where laughter rings and sunlight spills,
And simple joys the spirit fills.
It grants a taste, a fleeting glance,
At lives entwined in circumstance,
But cannot weave the threads unseen,
Of fate's design, of what has been.
So seek not fortune's hollow call,
But treasures whispered in the thrall
Of open hearts, of moments shared,
The wealth of life, freely aired.
For though our paths may wind and bend,
Some journeys written without end,
The soul's true wealth is not defined,
By what we earn, but what we find.
