Poem -

Winter

the days are cold, and the wind is brisk,
the snow is swirling around you
and the cold sinks right to your bones.
the days are cold, and you can’t stop the wind,
you feel the snow against your face
the cold sinks to the deepest parts of you
the days are cold, and the heat is on
watching the wind from the window
but it can’t warm that deep chill.
the days are cold, but the nights are colder
you want hide away, but there is life around you
finally the chill has thawed.
the days are cold, but the nights are colder
I want your body curled around me,
to be surrounded by your warmth
happy to feel you arms around me,
finally forgetting that there’s any cold outside.
