Winter Butterflies

Winter butterflies so softly fall
to cover the trees that stand so tall.
White fur coats to keep them warm
throughout the long harsh chilly storm.
Little frozen kisses from heaven to ground
that flutter and swirl without a sound.
And in the depth of the deep crisp snow
sleepy wooden hearts are all - a – glow.
In a blanket made with a thousand moons
to cloak the horizon where the cruel sun looms.
A freshly laid canvas to prettily smear
with all that you love, for a happy new year.
