Winter's Wake

Advancing from the circle
Ripples recede
As my spirit's rippedΒ
From its crisp and brittle skin
But not before my will to survive
Conforms to sustain
The infirmity of a self-resolving struggle
With the ambivalenceΒ
Of intentions amassed beneath
Fear overcomes, manifesting
Through a conscious anxiety
Prying the eyes
But the lids keep shutting to sleep
As the light blinks
To climactic glimpses of the past
Intensifying the relevance of life
And all its dreams
Left behind with love
AndΒ all my tears have yearned to touch
And still, at this very moment I elapse
In the wake of winter, I had sprung
From the infectious burden
Of a daunting world
All the life I rarely chased
Left to linger through a cold embrace
And all my life, my eyes had sunk
Into the restless slumber of a dawning sun
Another day of habitual haze
Another day, the swarms had spun
To build barricades around me
Then all at once it seemed
My life was merely just a breath
As the light came so quick upon me
As if it knew I had enoughΒ
And was with me all along to know
There was nothing left
