…with every lie he tells

Summer turned to winter
Autumn just a splinter in between
The P M went to the Palace
Bold as brass, they say, he lied to the Queen
Cold wet weather settled in
Longer days gave way to longer nights
As Parliament fought tooth and nail
To preserve its, and our, democratic rights
And as sons argued with fathers
And daughters with their mothers
In the heat of the House of Commons
The P M’s porkpie lies were burned to cinders
Yet despite the lies and distorted facts
He won the general election
He promises now to get Brexit done
And re-unite the Nation
He says he’ll cut our taxes
Invest billions in the NHS
And he’ll sort out the awful mess
Previous Tory governments have left us
Says he’ll invest in infrastructure
Better roads and rails and buses
Fibre broadband to every home
Forty new hospitals and fifty thousand nurses
And with every lie he tells
The nose on his face grows longer
And with every lie he tells
Support for him strangely grows much stronger
But believe him if you really must
For in Scotland the SNP
Will push again for independence
From our disunited United Kingdom
While across the sea in Ulster
Where non-Unionists hold sway
They say “if we can’t stay in the E U
We too will work to leave - the U K"
Now as we celebrate Christmas and New Year
Carols tell us it’s the season of goodwill
So why are there thousands more rough sleepers
And millions more hungry mouths to fill?
Though millions place their trust in him
Time alone will tell if his promises are true
I know that I for one don’t trust him
But if you do - that’s entirely up to you
